Cooks Cabin has made the most of the fresh, crisp sun since the new year and this weekend was like no other. Two full days of outings, one to Manor Farm Country Park with the hubster, J and Lexi, and another to Lee-on-the-Solent with family.
I don’t think I’ve ever really appreciated the beauty and sense of calm the sea gives people. It was lovely to visit Lee-on-the-Solent to see my cousin and her family today. She recently moved there and explained to me that when she’s having a rough day or moment where she needs to escape, she walks to the waterfront or drives to the car park and watches the waves, boats and sea.
I have to admit, walking along the promenade today gave me that same sense of wellbeing and calm (and an almighty windswept look!) The hubster comes from Hastings and lived a stones throw from the beach, something he’s missed where we live now so today was an ideal opportunity to see what it would be like in the winter. J used her scooter all along the promenade, she’s getting very fast and confident, and took the opportunity to walk on the stone beach (after telling daddy to ‘GET DOWN NOW’ off a wall he was climbing on!
All in all, I liked it! What a beautiful way to spend a Sunday morning. It’s a little remote compared to where we currently live but I can see the appeal and it was lovely seeing all the families out enjoying the sunny yet cold morning.
It will be a hardship, but I think i’ll have to take a few more trips down there, especially in the summer to see if it’s as good as it is in the winter!
