A New Bike {Ordinary Moments Week 15 – 12/04/15}

Whilst visiting friends last week they advised us their daughter no longer required her first bike and asked us if J wanted it. We have been talking about her riding a bike for ages and were unsure whether to purchase a balance bike or one with stabilisers so this was lovely and gratefully received

After a little trial at home on Easter Monday and lots of squealing in excitement by me we took J on it down the park and she was soon whizzing by! It really is difficult sometimes to remember that she is only 2 and I really am just so proud of her and all she has achieved so far. The hubster stayed with her until she got the hang of it but she was beaming from ear to ear as she mastered the pedals

I keep looking at her and thinking, where did my baby go? She really has grown up in the past couple of months, well, since we potty trained her and she came out of nappies. With each day that goes past she is fast moving away from toddler to child

The hubster and I shared a brief moment of looking at each other in awe and I had a proud mum moment with a few (several) tears in my eyes. It sounds so silly and perhaps insignificant to people, but for us it’s a big thing, and one which will stay etched in my memory

I am looking forward to doing more of the same over the summer and we have been out a couple of times since, usually followed by a stop at the park. Once I learn how to successfully upload videos I’ll add that but we only really took a couple of photos as we wanted to absorb the moment

  1. Oh bless her heart, she looks so proud of herself and so cute on her little bike. Mads got her first one last year, so she was 3, but it still made me feel like she had grown up a bit instantly. That first bike is such a special milestone and memory- I still remember mine from when I was little. x
