“3 things” – 9th May 2015

It usually happens right at the end of the day and just before we are about to fall asleep but at least 2-3 times a week we chat about our “3 things”

It varies each time, though quite often is something like “3 things I love about you”, “3 things I love about J”, “3 things I am looking forward to”, “3 things I liked about today” and so on. We rarely talk about the negatives and I genuinely believe it’s one of the things that has helped us through the rollercoaster that is parenthood with all of the hard times and good times

We started this when I was in the depths of PND and the hubster wanted a pick me up to help me smile and reflect on the positive things in life. Somehow it’s become part of our household routine and it still makes me look for the positives, even when I’ve had a really cruddy day!

I’m going to start logging a weekly 3 things on my blog so that I can look back over the week. it will be 3 things I’ve loved, hated, encountered or just felt like making a note of

Here’s my “3 things I’ve loved this week

  • The Bank Holiday – we get such a little amount of time with J that when we get a bonus day off we really make the most of it along with the weekend. The whole 3 days were pretty packed, we went swimming in Bracknell, to Guildford, to the zoo and to see friends in Eastbourne. A pretty action packed weekend but a memorable one nonetheless. Swimming with J was awesome, though she is still wary of any water based activities in the toddler section and much prefers swimming itself!
  • Giraffes – I loved watching and seeing the giraffes at the zoo on Monday. They are my favourite animal by far and I love how gangly and goofy they are. If I was that tall I’m sure I would be just the same
  • Watching Toy Story – I love Disney, and because we are going to Florida later on in the year I like to watch Disney with J . We made it a family event on Thursday night with a little bit of ice cream and she stayed up a little later than normal. I forgot how funny it is although I’m sure that will wear thin soon when she inevitably wants to watch it every day!
  • I purchased these goggles at the pound shop, along with a minnie mouse rubber ring. She loved them and refused to take her goggles off before swimming! (They were pretty useless and let the water in so now I know she likes them I'll make an investment)

With the ducks. I had a mum fail and didn't bring any bread but she had fun waving and saying hello to them

We so rarely go to the pub anymore. I don't actually think I've had a 'daytime drink' since having her, so I opted for a summery shandy in Guildford
