The Great Outdoors! {Ordinary Moments Week 24 – 14/6/15}

A short drive takes us to the beach, the New Forest, several Country Parks and even the Isle of Wight (okay you cheat by using a boat but it’s still a short drive!)

Our Paultons Park annual pass ran out a couple of weeks back and J was becoming a bit dependant on visiting there, always asking us to go every weekend, in fact she became a bit obsessed with it! For that and a couple of other reasons we decided to renew next year and spend this summer enjoying and exploring the local area

The last couple of weekends we have made the most of the good weather and better health, and this Saturday we visited a local country park to meet friends on the bikes. We also ventured out to the New Forest with some friends for a picnic last Sunday and again today as a family

It’s been quite a while since we explored the New Forest and now that J is running about and happy to explore it’s something we are looking forward to doing more of. Prior to J arriving we visited the New Forest a lot and it holds some very special memories for us and I’m sure as the years go by we will make many more with J and our Lexi

Today we went to somewhere we went for the very first time with Lexi, we haven’t been back since her outing at 11 weeks and it was a beautiful as it was the first time we went there. I love how vast the New Forest is and the fact it can go on forever and you can just walk and walk

Lexi acted like she was 11 weeks old again, constantly wanting to chase the ball and nudging us for our attention to throw it again. J happily stood there for ages by the picnic blanket throwing the ball for Lexi and that dog/owner bond really is starting to show between them both

We decided to stop for a picnic at the bottom of the hill and were joined by the local wildlife as we were trying to eat! Every time we looked round they had moved closer which was a little freaky but cute at the same time. You can’t get much better in terms of animal encounters and all for a free day out by car!

For me, it doesn’t have to cost a lot, or involve a big theme, it’s something as simple as being out in the sun with my family and a picnic that will always bring a smile to my face

  1. I just love your mentality to days out, it is time together, away from the hassles of everyday life that matters and it doesn’t cost much to achieve this. the New Forest is beautiful and having it close by a real treat. I hope you have many more summer picnics there and keep the selfies coming, that one is priceless with the donkeys looking in too! thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.

  2. Oh that last photo is absolutely AMAZING! Like seriously amazing, I love that the donkey’s photo bombed it! It looks like a gorgeous place to visit and I love their little sun hats- how lovely to have a cousin close in age. x
