A Month of Adventures {August 2017}

Posted by

This has been sat in my drafts for a while as it’s been a soggy start to September and I’m not sure I want for summer to be over just yet even though I simply adore Autumn. Still, there’s some lovely memories from the month, with weekends of camping and toasting marshmallows, quality time spent together at the beach, trips to the park and forest, a day visit to a festival, and lets not forget the week I spent in Belgium – the first time I’ve visited a European  country in 8 years

The start of August saw us go camping, with the hubster and J heading to a campsite, a day of stand up paddle boarding, and a couple of nights of me and J camping in my mums back garden, with evening discos and marshmallows on the campfire

And so here is our August in pictures and words…

J and I visited St Catherine’s Hill one Saturday, stopping for a picnic and cuddles at the top. We love visiting it here, with the faint buzz of the M3 in the background sounding like a beach and historic Winchester on the other side

J and I also had lots of fun adventuring while the hubster had a much needed rest before I went away, trampolining and picking fresh pears in my mums back garden. J was amazing in her SUP lesson, she really was outstanding and I am one proud mummy for sure. One of the days we visited the New Forest and I captured this photo of J in the heather – quite possibly one of my favourites of her for a long time, she’s really so much fun at 4

My trip to Belgium went well, and on the first day before we started auditing I visited Montagne de Bueren, which is 374 steps to the top and gave the most beautiful views of the city. The walk was great but there were some people actually running up and down the steps! It was a long but worthwhile week away, even though I was a little tired by the end of it and it was nice to return home to be with my family

August you were beautiful, the beach days were as always my favourite, and the mummy daughter days were spectacular. On my return we decided to have a scaled back weekend with a trip to our favourite West Wittering and Victorious Festival in Portsmouth on the Saturday. I really enjoyed being with J for the afternoon at the festival before her daddy picked her up and I spent an evening with the girls watching Feeder

And finally, here is a little montage of our month. I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable in front of the camera, so this little video hopefully captures how we enjoyed it

It’s mid September as I post this and as the end of the month is just around the corner there’s not many more weekends left, but we’re off to Cheshire to see our best friend and for my first visit to BlogOn Xmas, with a promise from me to J of a trip to the shops at the end of September to celebrate a few weeks at school
