Me and Mine {May 2018}

In what feels like forever I finally managed to put some words together for a little post about the month that was May. This year is whizzing by faster than the rest, and it’s not because we’ve increased our adventures, in fact it’s quite the opposite. Yes we’ve had weekends away most months, but with the hubster and I starting new roles / jobs and J settling into school, there’s a whole host of life admin, longer hours, expectations and responsibilities, that when it comes to the weekends (as long as she’s not at another birthday party) we like to take a step back and be together

Me and Mine {March 2018}

Such a cliche but time really is whizzing by and I can’t believe we’re just about into Q2 of 2018. March has been a jam packed month, we were chatting yesterday and didn’t think we had done much, but when looking through the camera roll March was filled with snowy and sunny adventures

Me and Mine {February 2018}

Didn’t February pass by quickly? We find ourselves at the end of the 2nd month of 2018 already and looking forward to March, the month that brings us spring and longer days

As I write this, the UK is in the midst of a week of freezing temperatures and snow, and the south is in eager and fearful anticipation of snow for the first time in several years. My car is packed with a blanket, ski jacket and snow boots, and although I have a lot to do this week, I am looking forward to seeing some snow

Me and Mine {January 2018}

And so we’re already through the first month of 2018. I’m not going to lie, I’m exhausted! There’s been a lot of change,, a new job, new routines and new activities each week but it’s been a good start to the year and although we’re all very tired, we’re all really pleased we’ve done it all and made it through to the end

For most of the month January was miserable weather wise, we had grey sky upon grey sky, and it made me question why I always say winter is one of my favourite seasons. Thankfully the sun decided to shine at the end of the month and we managed to finally get out, and that works for me. I’m not saying we’re a family of fair-weather walkers – we’re quite the opposite, but it’s been really windy and wet, and that’s just not fun

We wanted to continue the theme of outdoors family photos and my cousin’s husband kindly took these for us when out on a walk on the last weekend, as the end of the month seemed to creep up on us

This month:

Sherry loved

  • Starting my new job. I was a bag of nerves on my first dayand there’s a lot to learn, but it was the right change and I’m pleased with that
  • Having a mummy daughter day mid month
  • Having lunches out. My mum and dad kindly got us restaurant vouchers for Christmas, and we used them on the weekend for some quality family lunches

The hubster loved:

  • Roast dinner Sundays. It sounds silly but family afternoons at home on a Sunday with a dinner he cooked made him smile
  • Playing lots of tennis
  • Watching J do the Kevin McAllister (Home Alome) eyebrows – too funny!

J loved:

  • Starting 3 clubs in January – we were only going to do 2 but she pleaded with us to do all 3 so we are trying it for a term to see how tired she is
  • Starting at a childminders – after school club was a bit too overwhelming for her, and since starting at the childminders, we’ve had to drag her out in the evenings
  • Going for a dog walk with her cousin. She absolutely adores her younger cousin and although L wasn’t feeling it on the walk, J had a brilliant time!

Lexi loved:

  • Rolling in as much fox poo as she could find – horrid!

February has another half term where the hubster and J have some time together, a month of school diary activities and a couple of evenings out planned. I have a feeling I’ll be saying how quick the shortest month of the year seemed to pass by!

Me and Mine {December 2017}

And so there we have it, a complete year of monthly family photos. I am so immensely proud of the fact we’ve continued this throughout the year, and it’s been so nice to look back on our photos and the memories that accompany it. Christmas was amazing and I really saw and felt the magic in Js eyes this time around. Her face when we met the real Santa in Trentham was amazing and it almost made us believe

Me and Mine {November 2017}

A few days late for our Me and Mine post for November, and for good reason – the hubster and J’s birthdays. I think this should be the last time I mention it, but every birthday is such a big milestone and so bittersweet that I can’t help but not focus on them

Me and Mine {October 2017}

And so we say goodbye to my favourite month in the calendar. The month of beauty in the skies and all around us, the month where we spend so much time outdoors and the month where we pick pumpkins, play in the leaves and naturally start thinking about cosy evenings with hot chocolates and marshmallows

October was simply wonderful for us; a weekend away, half term holidays, birthday parties galore, a new business position for the hubster and a new job for me. October is always full of adventure and anticipation, and is the one month I’m always sad to say goodbye to

We actually had a photo organised at the beginning  of the month, a photo with us and the dog taken by my cousin’s husband while we were on a walk, but then we went to the New Forest for a weekend and the sun shone. I just couldn’t help but set the camera up for another family portrait even though the dog wasn’t there, and it was funny to watch the hubster run to and from the tree – my remote still isn’t fixed and I was too short to jump up onto the fallen tree

This month:

Sherry has loved…

  • The feeling of accomplishment after a month of blogging every day. It’s safe to say I don’t plan on doing it again for a while but it was nice to explore my  creative side
  • Going on a mini break with the hubster and J in a camping pod
  • Pumpkins and pick your own in preparation for Halloween. The hubster rolled his eyes so many times when J and I arrived home with our treasures but he secretly loves it…I think!

The hubster has loved…

  • Going away for the weekend, having our family portrait and walking down by the river
  • Having a child free date night
  • Playing our new favourite game, Staccups

J has loved…

  • Staying in a camping pod. She bounced with excitement when we arrived in, and it was a welcome change from school runs
  • Going to lots of birthday parties, playing with her new school friends and getting a head teachers award
  • Seeing her cousin and going on lots of outings with them

Lexi has loved…

  • Staying with her doggy pal Archie while we were away and being treated like royalty

We move into November at a rate of knots, the month dominated by 2 birthdays, family traditions and weekends of busy schedules. Every weekend between now and Christmas is busy and booked up that I’m looking forward to resting during the break

The outtake for this month is when child and dog decided not to play ball – at least the grown ups are looking!

The Me + Mine Project - Dear Beautiful

Me and Mine {September 2017}

And that’s Q3 of 2017 all wrapped up. This month was heavily overshadowed by J starting school, with a lot of focus on adjusted hours and the dreaded school run. I used to think it was a myth that it rained on the school run but I’ve turned up like a drowned rat on more than one occasion!

Me and Mine {August 2017}

I cannot believe I’m writing this round up already but August whizzed by in another blur of busy weeks. I honestly don’t know how we have already completed two thirds of 2017,  although I was looking through the photos on my phone the other day and we’ve had some wonderful adventures this year

Me and Mine {June 2017}

The 30th of June marks my 32nd birthday so I guess I start by saying happy birthday to me. I don’t really like turning another year older, and the more time goes by the quicker it seems to be going. Today I’ve worked on my birthday for the first time in years, but it’s not all bad as it’s only half a day and then I’m off for an adventure
